Big Wilf and his team started making muffles in 2004 and has pioneered the use of modern materials in designing new revolutionary church bell muffles held on with velcro. Lots of experiments have been undertaken in the earlier years to perfect what has become the muffle of choice. It has become a very successful business.

manufacturing over 1000 sets of muffles for churches throughout the world. ​ During 2021 Big Wilf retired, and in doing so handed the reins to Philip of Avon Ropes Ltd in Bristol who have purchased the enterprise, including several very large industrial sewing machines, industrial riveters, embroidery machines, tooling and the intellectual property to continue making the same great product, using the same techniques. Avon Ropes Ltd have further developed the product to improve the consistency and quality of the finished product in collaboration with Wilf.

 

Avon Ropes Ltd have a great reputation for manufacturing high quality and cutting-edge bell ropes. Whilst Big Wilf’s intent is to retire from making muffles, his advice and assistance is still available and is never very far away.

 

All the legacy orders and job sheets and embroidery files supplied by Big Wilf’s have been passed as a hard copy archive to Avon Ropes Ltd to facilitate the manufacturing of full muffles.
